Allotments with a rich history
Our allotments were founded in 1923 by a local man on unused Council land on the south side of Inchview Terrace. They have been worked and managed by the community since then.
The community have successfully fought off threats to the site since 1998 when the land was sold, without the committee's knowledge, to property developers.
In September 2015 the allotments were awarded a Certificate of Lawful Use by the City of Edinburgh Council, recognising their established use as allotments under planning law.
The allotments provide a green, wildlife-rich oasis in an otherwise built-up area.
Community run
We are a registered charity, run by a group of volunteers who work on behalf of our community. There are currently 85 plots including 4 plots for community groups. The allotments committee meet regularly and hold an AGM every November.
Since April this year, we have been donating surplus home-grown fruit and veg to our local Basics Bank food bank at our local church.
